SSILA Awards

SSILA awards and prizes are one of the main activities that further the goals of the Society. Through them, we encourage diversity and excellence in scholarship and in advancing the study of the Indigenous languages of the Americas, and in archiving.

Recipients are determined by committees composed of members of the Executive Committee and drawn from the general membership with approval from the EC. Depending on the award, recipients may get recognition, lifetime membership in the Society, cash award, or recommendation for publication. See the details of each award or prize, including information about how to apply.

Donations can be made directly to the Travel Awards or to the General Fund for the Ken Hale Prize and SSILA Archiving Award.
