Join the Advancing Indigenous Language Technologies Working Group!

For a few years now, a number of individuals and academic programs have come together to form the 'Advancing Indigenous Language Technologies' (AILT) working group: https://ailt.arizona.edu

We would like to extend an invitation to SSILA members and your colleagues, friends and students to participate if you're interested.

We are a loosely organized, informal network of people who think that it's a good idea to work together to support community-based language technology development initiatives, and support Indigenous language communities. We are inviting participation from community members, students, scholars, engineers, others with expertise and/or interest in any or all of the following areas:

  • Language work (revitalization, reclamation, repatriation, etc.)

  • Language technology development (human language technologies, natural language processing, software engineering, etc.)

  • Language policy (data sovereignty, language rights, etc.)

And you can participate in either or both of the following ways:

If you're interested and/or have questions, please contact Amy Fountain (avf@arizona.edu) and I'll be happy to share more info and/or just get you looped in at your preferred level.
